Guest Spotlight: KyAnn Waters author of Betrayed Vows
Darah, I’m super
excited to be here today. Not only are you one of my besties, but I admire you
so much. You are an amazing writer and I’m thrilled be kicking it on your blog
today.
And I'm excited to have you here. I can't believe we've never done this before. So let's get started. What's your
favorite book you've written?
You know I have a special place in my heart for Theron. His story is Dark Man but he has a major role in all of the Blood Slave books. They are available from Ellora’s Cave, but you can find the ebooks at all online digital book retailers such as Amazon and Nook. Ice Man and Iron Man are in a combo print edition.

Yeah, Theron is definitely one to make all the girls' (and some guys') hearts go thump! Who is the
biggest influence on your writing?
Probably not
a who, but a what. I love to set the tone with music.
Cool, I'm finding that out lately myself. How did you
come up with the title?
Well the
title originally started off as Lucky Charm, but my partner in crime, Darah,
helped me brainstorm some options and I finally decided on Betrayed Vows.
Oh, right. LOL Well, Landon just doesn't come across as a leprechaun. Do you ever
wish that you had an entirely uncreative job, like data entry or working in a
factory?
Sometimes I
think it would be easier to stay out of the kitchen and snack if I didn’t work
in my home office. But truly writing is a perfect fit for me.
Maybe we should invent seat belts for office chairs. :) What is your
favorite time of year and why?
Fall, I love
crisp mornings and sunny afternoons. I love late fall flowers. I’m usually sick
of the hot summer by the time the leaves are changing and I love an evening
fire. Just thinking about it makes me wish for fall.
Now for the
story.
Everything
in Gretchen Booker’s life was as she wanted it. A husband on her terms.
Companionship without physical contact. That’s why she married a lifer. Who
would’ve thought it would all come to an end after only ten years?
Life on the
outside is not as Landon Booker expected. But how can he make a future for
himself beyond prison walls when the woman who is supposed to love him wants to
see him sent back to the penitentiary.
Crystal
Evans isn’t a home wrecker. Landon needs a friend…someone who can help protect
him from his conspiring wife. Falling in love wasn’t part of the plan.
Yet vows
betrayed leave all three with something to lose—Crystal her heart, Landon his
freedom, and Gretchen the life she had before.

Excerpt:
Starting at
his bare feet, her gaze traveled the contours of his calves, and across the
hard planes of his thighs. Try as she might, she couldn’t curb her curiosity.
Riding low on his hips, his shorts hinted at what lay beneath. And his
abdominals, although they were hidden under his shirt, she’d forever remember
how her fingers slid against the corded grooves when they touched in the pool.
Meeting her at eye level, his shoulders curved into his chest.
His features
darkened as she met his stare. “Before this week all I wanted was for my wife
to look at me the way you just did.” He ran his knuckles across her cheek.
“And now?”
Betrayal
slammed deep in his gut, but he couldn’t stop. “I prefer eating Lucky Charms
with you.” Touching the fire, he was going to burn. Slipping his fingers into
her hair, it was soft as silk and smelled of lavender and vanilla. She trembled
as he leaned closer and pressed the length of his body to hers. Burying his
face in her hair, he breathed deeply.
Crystal
sighed and lifted her face. Landon cursed himself as he lowered his mouth to
hers. Gently at first, testing the softness and the willingness of her mouth to
open under his, he let the essence of her scent penetrate his senses. Arms went
around his neck, and then the sweet taste. Tongue against tongue. Body fit to
body.

Captive Fantasy sure held me captive!
When I think about the books that have stayed with me over time, Captive Fantasy by L. Rosario is one of them. It grabbed me from the beginning and kept me bound until I was done. A little vampire action mixed with male strippers and evil genius. And Valentino...

“I’ll let you go after you tell me why your friends dragged you here. You aren’t getting married, so what is it then? A bad break up? A bad husband?” He glanced at her left ring finger, but there wasn’t a ring or a mark indicating there ever had been.
Her hand tightened around the doorknob, but she didn’t turn it. “I told you I’d rather not say.”
“But knowing will help me figure out how to behave around you. It might explain why you’re so touchy.”
She shot a glare over her shoulder, and the fire in her eyes made her nearly irresistible. “I am not touchy.”
“Yes, you are.” Most women begged to stay longer, the fact that Sera longed to flee, intrigued the hell out of him.
She let go of the knob and turned to face him. “Fine, Mr. Stubborn, I’ll tell you exactly why I’m here tonight.”
Valentino resisted the urge to hold his breath.
“I made the mistake of telling my friend that I’ve never had an orgasm during sex.”
He admired her ability to say all of that with a straight face and dead-on eye contact. “You’ve had one on your own though?”
“Excuse me?”
“You said, during sex. It implies you’ve had one without sex.”
She shook her head, and the razor cut ends of her hair slapped against her jawline. “I’ve never had one, all right?”
“Of course it’s all right, and not the least bit abnormal.”
She rolled her eyes and tossed her hands in the air. “Oh my God, don’t play Dr. Ruth with me. You don’t look the part.”
Valentino grinned and held out his hand. “I’m not trying to play Dr. Ruth. Come here.”
“No,” she snapped.
He dropped his hand. “I’ll give you an orgasm, Sera, but it would be easier if you let me touch you.”
Her mouth opened and closed, and her eyes narrowed. “Does that mean you can give me one without touching me?”
“Sure.” He did his best to keep his tone casual. No telling how she would react if she realized how eager he was to touch her. “But I’d prefer the traditional way, and you would too, trust me.”
